Verifying your ID

Get the verified ID badge and show students your ID has been checked.

Verify your ID to get the verified ID badge next to your name. A member of our team checks your ID manually.

Why get verified

  • Students can trust who they're booking. The badge shows that our team has checked your government ID.
  • Your badge shows wherever students see you. It appears next to your name in search results, on your profile, and in your students' lessons and teacher lists.
  • You stand out from tutors who aren't verified. When students compare tutors, the badge is a clear sign you took the extra step.
  • It's free and quick. You submit your ID once, and the badge stays on your profile after it's approved.

What you need

  • A government-issued ID: a passport, driver's license or national ID card.
  • Clear photos of the front and back, taken in good light. JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB each.

Submit your ID

  1. Go to Teach > Settings > Profile.
  2. Under Identity verification, below Basic info, select Verify my ID.
  3. Choose your ID type and issuing country, and enter your full name exactly as it appears on your ID.
  4. Upload photos of the front and back. Show all four corners, avoid glare, and make sure the text is readable.
  5. Review your details, confirm the ID is yours, and select Submit.

If you're applying to teach, you'll find Identity verification on the Profile step of your application. Submitting your ID is required before you can send your application, and an ID that's under review counts.

After you submit

Your ID shows Under review while our team checks it. Reviews take up to 3 business days, and we'll notify you when it's done. While it's under review, you can still edit your submission from Settings > Profile.

When your ID is approved, you'll see Verified in Settings > Profile, along with the photos you sent, and the badge appears on your profile right away. Select a photo to see it full size.

If your ID needs an update

If we can't approve your ID, you'll see Needs fixing in Settings > Profile, along with the reasons and feedback from our team. Common reasons are a blurry photo, part of the ID cut off, an expired ID, or a name that doesn't match your account. Fix what's marked, then select Resubmit to send your ID again.

Your privacy

Only you and our verification team can see your ID. It is never shown to students. If your ID needs an update, we delete the photos you sent, so you'll upload new ones when you resubmit.
