For every completed lesson, CharlieTalk pays you a Tutor Rate: the lesson price less our margin. The margin depends on the date you're approved.

Founding tutors

Reviews take 3–5 days during launch, and longer if we ask for an interview or demo lesson. Apply by mid-April 2027 to leave time.

Who we're looking for

Many Italian learners come for travel, heritage and culture, and they stay for a tutor who makes lessons feel like a conversation. You don't need a teaching certificate to apply.

Native or fully fluent Italian

You speak Italian naturally and can explain how it works.

Experience or qualifications help

A certificate is welcome but not required. Teaching experience, or a qualification such as a CILS, CELI or PLIDA certification, makes your application stronger.

The right setup

A webcam, a microphone and a stable internet connection. Lessons run in the browser, so there's nothing to install.

How it works

1. Apply in about 10 minutes

Create your tutor profile, add your languages and tell us about your teaching.

2. Get reviewed in 3–5 days

We review every application during launch. We may ask for a short interview and a demo lesson. If you're not approved, you can re-apply.

3. Propose your price and start teaching

Set your availability, propose your lesson and trial prices, and welcome your first Italian students.

How you'll get students

We're new, and we say so. We're investing in search, social and partnerships to bring Italian learners to CharlieTalk, and founding tutors get top placement in results while student demand grows.

Trial lessons

New students can take up to 3 trial lessons to find the right tutor. A trial is often a student's first step towards a long run of lessons with you.

  • You propose your own trial price.
  • Each completed trial pays your Tutor Rate, like any lesson.
  • The same margin applies: 15% for founding tutors.

Getting paid

Your Tutor Rate is added to your Earnings when each lesson is completed. Request a payout once you have at least $30, and payouts are paid twice a month.
