What is the verified ID badge?
What the badge next to a tutor's name means, and how tutors get it.
The verified ID badge is the shield icon next to a tutor's name. It means our team has checked that tutor's government ID.
What it means
To get the badge, a tutor sends us photos of a passport, driver's license or national ID card. A member of our team checks the ID manually and confirms the name matches the tutor's account.
The badge confirms the tutor's identity. It isn't a rating of their teaching. To get a feel for how someone teaches, watch their intro video, read their reviews, or book a trial lesson.
Where you'll see it
The badge appears next to a verified tutor's name in search results, on their profile, and in your lessons and list of teachers.
For students
- Book with more confidence. You know the tutor is who they say they are.
- Compare tutors easily. The badge is a quick way to spot tutors who took the extra step to verify.
A tutor without the badge hasn't verified their ID yet. Every tutor on CharlieTalk is still reviewed and approved by our team before they can teach.
For tutors
- Build trust before the first lesson. Students can see your ID has been checked.
- Stand out in search. The badge shows next to your name everywhere students find you.
- It's free. Verify once from Teach > Settings > Profile, and the badge appears as soon as your ID is approved.
The "Verifying your ID" article walks you through submitting your ID.
Your privacy
Tutors' ID photos are only seen by the tutor and our verification team. They are never shown to students.
