This Privacy Policy explains how CharlieTalk ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our website, apps, and related services (the "Platform"). By using CharlieTalk, you agree to this Policy. It's incorporated into our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account info — name, email, phone number, password, profile photo, and (for Tutors) education, certifications, and teaching experience.
Content you share — messages, lesson recordings, posts, reviews, and any files or media you upload.
Payment info — transaction records and billing details (processed by our payment providers — we don't store full card numbers).
Voice/lesson data — with your consent, we may analyze lesson audio (e.g., speaking time, pronunciation) to power AI features like feedback and progress tracking.
Device and usage info — device type, browser, IP address, app version, and how you interact with the Platform (pages viewed, features used, crash logs).

2. How We Use It

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve the Platform (bookings, messaging, payments, support);
• Power AI features (tutor matching, lesson summaries, pronunciation feedback, level estimation) — only with your consent for voice/lesson data;
• Communicate with you about your account, transactions, and updates;
• Detect fraud, enforce our Terms, and keep the Platform safe;
• Meet legal and tax obligations (e.g., reporting requirements for Tutor payouts).

We don't use Sensitive Personal Information (like financial account details) beyond what's needed to provide the Services, and we don't sell your personal information.

3. Who We Share It With

• Tutors and Students, as needed to facilitate lessons (e.g., a Tutor sees a Student's booking details).
• Service providers who help us run the Platform — payment processors, cloud hosting, customer support tools, and AI providers that power features like transcription or recommendations. They're only permitted to use your data to provide these services to us.
• Legal and safety purposes — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of CharlieTalk, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers — if CharlieTalk is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that deal, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your information may be stored and processed on servers located outside your home country. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

5. How Long We Keep It

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, or as required by law. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures (like encryption and access controls) to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, so we also encourage you to use a strong password and keep your login details private.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to withdraw consent for certain uses (like AI lesson analysis). You can manage most of this directly in Settings > Privacy, or contact us to make a request. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe as required by applicable law.

8. Children

CharlieTalk is intended for users 18 and older. If you're a minor, you may only use the Platform with a parent or legal guardian's consent and supervision.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the Platform before they take effect.
